Honestly you aren’t missing much with not getting the new GX or TX. They’re BARELY changed from their Toyota counterparts. Also INTERESTING at the distributor bringing in BYD. Honestly good for them!

I don’t think the Nissan Honda merger is dead just yet. The reality is if Nissan doesn’t partner with Honda they will literally go out of business. Half the time these big corporate mergers are all about politics and walking away as a tactic to further negotiations is a common play in politics. Or they can kill their company LOL. As for the Everest, I don’t think it would cannibalize sales of the explorer. That’s like saying the 4Runner and Land Cruiser would kill the Highlander and Grand Highlander. Different markets and customers for each. Plus ford has been positioning the explorer as a performance SUV anyhow with 2 of 4 trims now being the high output version.

Fun back story on that Escape-it was being sold as the Mazda Tribute, and so it had to meet Mazda quality standards and from what I understand, Ford and Mazda collaborated on the engineering and changed quite a bit to meet the Japanese spec. And then the hybrid used a copycat Toyota hybrid system so that made them super reliable too. And same at the Everest being better looking than the Explorer. The Explorer was a lost cause once it moved back to a unibody chassis IMO.

@@joshjamescars yes the hybrids from Ford at this time were Toyota Hybrids...even in the ford cars that were hybrid. I think the Explorer speaks to a different customer than the Everest. Just like Toyota with the Land Cruiser and the 4Runner they overlap on customers but speak to a different customer.

If you read the manual (the only source of truth you should believe when it comes to operating conditions), it states that you can run the NX350h perfectly fine on regular (87 octane or higher) gas. The turbo does require premium because it’s a high compression ratio engine, but remember this is literally the same engine that’s in every Rav4 and Camry. The 350h is a Lexus in look and feel but it’s a Rav4 underneath. If it was the turbo, then I would run premium but the whole idea of a hybrid is to save as much as you can on gas and paying for premium is in direct conflict with that goal.

Same here! Why I won’t get rid of my GX460. If you need to tow and haul, DEFINITELY test drive the 4Runner first. The Land Cruiser I drove, and many reviewers who are normally overly complimentary to Toyota, have found that the turbo hybrid I4 barely has enough power to move the car, much less anything attached to it. If towing is a must for you, definitely consider the GX550 with the V6.

I have driven the Tacoma with the turbo hybrid and the land cruiser as well. They may not be super smooth, but way more power than my 5th gen. I understand the benefits of the GX. I just want the 4Runner. For my use I think it will work well. I know, buying a car is a personal thing and style and the feeling you get driving it sometimes wins out. ​@@joshjamescars

PREACH at the second point! Also, most Toyotas in the states are readily available and a lot of them have significant discounts! Dealers in my state can’t get rid of their cars and Grand Highlander, Land Cruiser, Crown Signia, and Tacoma all have some good discounts out there. If that’s not the case in your state, definitely shop elsewhere!

@ Up here in Canada Toyota stock is still terrible. Wait times 6-12 months on some models. There’s a huge don’t buy anything made in America theme that’s sweeping Canada and the world now because of Trump. So car buyers are asking all dealers where it’s made as a purchasing criteria. Tesla sales dropping 60-70% in Europe after musk’s Nazi salute. I feel bad for Americans. Crazy times.

The GX is the one to buy of all the new trucks! The 4-cylinder is so not the right engine for these trucks.

Oh noooo you definitely made the right choice. The TX is such a joke. I swear the only reason they don’t put the V6 PHEV drivetrain in the Grand Highlander is so that there’s a reason to buy the TX. 😂

It’s backdated, and the terms quoted are the total. Meaning-if it’s an 8 year warranty that means it’s valid until the car turns 8 years old. Same with mileage. A 70,000 mile warranty would be valid until the odometer ticks over 70,001 miles.

Yep!! In fact there are Toyotas that I feel look more luxurious than the GX.

I have the front and lower portion of the doors fully wrapped in paint protection film which has done wonders to keep the paint in perfect condition. I have a few videos on that on the channel. A 5,000 mile road trip across Texas, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming didn’t leave a chip on the paint because of it. Other than that I do wash it by hand on a regular basis, but that’s about it.

Does your steering wheel have beige stitching? If so, the parts from this video will work just fine for you.

@SeanMartin-n5n Yes! Lift it up (gently) from underneath the lip where the cup holders are and it comes up after a gentle pull.

Congratulations!! You can’t go wrong with the GX460 at this point. There’s always time to go for a new LC or GX550 once Toyota works out all the kinks and improves the refinement.

It is. I also wouldn’t go with this over a Garmin which generally has better quality and quality assurance than the Chinese brands. Voifo is constantly reaching out to me via email to make sponsored/paid videos for them and… shall we say that makes me trust them a lot less.

It is expensive but if you’ve been waiting years for it, then for you the price is probably worth it! :) And it most definitely is a solid camera.

@@joshjamescars I follow them since their first cameras. I know their quality is good and i didn't want to buy other brand dash camera. I was just thinking that they are lacking in resolution and night footage quality. Now when everything seems alright the price is not right. :)

Both are great, the tiebreaker will be how big of a car you want. The civic is a compact sedan, Camry is a midsize and there are pros and cons to each. If you’ll mostly have just one or two people in the car, get the Civic. But if you’ll be using the back seat regularly, definitely the Camry.

Neither of these-I always have some kind of hybrid as a daily driver. Right now that’s a Rav4 Prime.

They can but they’ll charge you for an hour of labor which is usually around $200… up to you if you think that’s worth it.

The Crown Signia isn’t likely to get many additions as they’re not selling well to begin with. If you’re asking about the Platinum trim because of the engine Toyota has confirmed that a hybrid max won’t be coming at all (since the Japan market model on which it’s based doesn’t get that).

Yes, the problem is in Texas our expressway speed limits go up to 85mph and no car is efficient at that speed. 😂 On the normal interstate at 75, though, 20 is absolutely doable.

@joshjamescars haha. 85mph or higher should kill gas mileage on the Big GX for sure. Tbo, I drive that fast on I85.

The rapid rise of the Chinese auto market is the most exciting thing to happen in a long time, IMO. All these legacy automakers have gotten so complacent putting out the same old product at exorbitant prices. If Chinese cars weren’t banned in the US I think we’d see that here too.

That would be the Century line of vehicles in Japan. Just not sold in the US.

I love the Crosstrek! But at this point in time it’s definitely worth waiting to see how the hybrid shakes out. I also imagine once the hybrid is out the demand will be lower for the gas models (and thus you might find a bigger discount).

Decided not to buy a TX after seeing the horrid interior quality and the lack of features on the 550h+.

That means there’s no micro SD card in the camera! :) if it’s a new car definitely go back and have them put one in for you. Or, if it’s a used car or you just installed it, you’ll need to put one in (you can get one on Amazon, look for a SanDisk SDXC card). That’s what the camera records to so if there’s no card, it’s not saving anything.
